England U17 Squad Announced for March International Break

By Arthur Le Neel March 13, 2025 2 minutes read

Neil Ryan’s England U17 squad is gearing up for a pivotal UEFA European U17 Championship qualifying round. Drawn against Israel, Slovenia, and Northern Ireland, the Young Lions will play all their fixtures at St. George’s Park – a home advantage they intend to make the most of. Following two impressive victories against the Netherlands in February, England approach this stage with confidence and ambition, especially with a squad selection that holds no surprises.

A Promising Momentum to Build On with a Highly Talented Squad.

The Young Lions have hit the ground running in 2024, securing back-to-back wins over the Netherlands in friendly matches held in Portugal. A hard-fought 3-2 victory, followed by an emphatic 4-0 triumph, allowed Neil Ryan to assess his options and fine-tune his squad ahead of the qualifiers. Facing Israel on 18 March, Slovenia on 22 March, and Northern Ireland on 25 March, England will need to display the same level of discipline and focus to secure their place in the finals. The midfield will be a key battleground, with players like Finlay Gorman and Max Dowman, England U18 Squad Announced for March International Breakdespite being only 15 years old, expected to bridge the gap between defence and attack. Up front, exciting talents such as Rio Ngumoha and Reigan Heskey, son of former England international Emile Heskey, will need to be clinical against what are likely to be compact defensive setups.

Founder and editor of Britannia Sport, I have, since 2023, chronicled the unfolding story of British sport, with a particular eye for emerging talent and the fortunes of our national teams. With a deep‑rooted passion for football, athletics, rugby and swimming, my understanding of sport has been shaped by the great international competitions, where national achievements take precedence over individual glory. A keen admirer of statistics, I take pleasure in casting light on athletes and disciplines too often overlooked, while offering a broad and exacting coverage of British sport in all its richness.
