England U17 Starting XI to Face Venezuela

By Arthur Le Neel October 1, 2026 2 minutes read

England U17 continue their tournament in Germany with a third fixture against Venezuela this Thursday, 1 October at 10.30am at the Sportschule Wedau. The Young Lions began this international window with a commanding 5-1 victory over the Republic of Ireland before coming from behind to beat Israel 2-1 in their opening game in Duisburg. After two wins from two, Barry Lewtas’ side will look to maintain their positive momentum ahead of their final fixture against tournament hosts Germany.

The Young Lions looking to build on their strong start

Barry Lewtas still has a 28-man squad at his disposal for this latest fixture, with several players having impressed across the opening two games. Hezekiah-Daniel Grimwade has underlined his attacking importance by scoring the winner against Israel, just days after opening the scoring against the Republic of Ireland. Xavier Parker and Josh Henry also found the net in the opening fixture, while Darren Motsi and Josh Blake contributed to the emphatic victory at St George’s Park. Having made a perfect start to their tournament in Germany with back-to-back wins, the Young Lions will now look to make it three in a row against Venezuela.

Founder and editor of Britannia Sport, I have, since 2023, chronicled the unfolding story of British sport, with a particular eye for emerging talent and the fortunes of our national teams. With a deep‑rooted passion for football, athletics, rugby and swimming, my understanding of sport has been shaped by the great international competitions, where national achievements take precedence over individual glory. A keen admirer of statistics, I take pleasure in casting light on athletes and disciplines too often overlooked, while offering a broad and exacting coverage of British sport in all its richness.
