At just 17 years old, Erin Boothman is proving to be one of Britain’s rising stars in cycling. Already a double world champion, the young prodigy has started her final year as a junior with an outstanding performance at an international competition, making a strong impression and solidifying her status as a favorite for upcoming major events.

A Total Domination from Erin Boothman
For her final year in the junior ranks, Erin Boothman delivered a sensational performance this weekend at the Interland ‘Next Generation,’ a top-tier junior competition held in Apeldoorn, Netherlands. At just 17, the young British talent completely swept the bunch races, claiming victory in the tempo, elimination, points race, scratch race, and the Madison, which she rode alongside her partner Abi Miller. But her dominance didn’t stop there—Boothman also triumphed in the timed events, winning the flying kilometer, a newly introduced event for junior women, and the team pursuit, where she was joined by Miller, Evie Smith, and Millie Salmon.
Already a double world champion, Boothman had left her mark last August at the Junior Track World Championships in China, securing gold in the team pursuit while setting a world record alongside teammates Cat Ferguson, Carys Lloyd, and Imogen Wolff—all of whom have signed contracts with WorldTour teams for 2025. She also claimed the Madison title in China, paired with Lloyd.
Following her stunning display in Apeldoorn, Boothman expressed her delight, describing this season opener as “a big confidence boost” and sharing her excitement for the competitions ahead. Meanwhile, British Cycling, eager to develop the next generation of talent, has announced a talent identification program for young cyclists born in 2010, 2011, or 2012, with selection tests scheduled for April to find successors to Boothman’s generation—she herself was born in April 2007.
On the men’s side, sprint specialist Henry Hobbs secured a gold medal, along with his teammates Charlie Holt, Kristian Larigo, Archie Gill, and Ioan Hepburn in the team sprint event.
