England U19, managed by Will Antwi, are set to travel to Portugal for the decisive round of fixtures in their bid to qualify for the UEFA European U19 Championship 2026. Should they progress, the tournament will be held in North Wales from 28 June to 11 July. After a comfortable first qualifying phase, the Young Lions now face a far sterner challenge, with only the group winners advancing from a pool that includes Portugal, Serbia and Poland—leaving no margin for error.
A deep and highly talented squad
Will Antwi has named a strong and well-balanced squad, blending international experience with some of the most exciting prospects in English football. Among the standout names is Chris Rigg, a key figure in midfield for Sunderland, alongside Mikey Moore, currently on loan at Rangers from Tottenham Hotspur, where he is enjoying valuable first-team minutes.
In attack, Liverpool’s Rio Ngumoha—already making regular appearances at club level—and Chelsea forward Jesse Derry represent the new wave of attacking talent, while Trey Nyoni, despite featuring for the U20s, continues to drop down to reinforce the midfield. At the back, the defensive unit will be led by Stephen Mfuni and Harry Amass, both accustomed to high-level competition.
The squad also includes Max Dowman, who has recently marked a major milestone by scoring his first professional goal for Arsenal. There are also first call-ups for defenders Brooklyn Nfonkeu-Feuba (Manchester City) and Ezra Mayers (West Ham United), underlining the depth of talent available at this level.
